My first association will forever be images of leather-clad Beatles, performing rock n roll numbers on uppers for hours on end in sweaty, sleazy bars. I’ve come to know Hamburg quite well over the last year and am really looking forward to being part of this year’s Reeperbahn Festival. Not that much has changed on the Reeperbahn since the 1960’s and some of the cliches are true, so I’m interested to see how the music industry panels and keynotes with VIP wrist banded folk will fare amongst the neon coloured sex toys and strip joints.
On Thursday afternoon I’m speaking on a panel on behalf of the FAC called: “living in the immaterial world” (see what they did there?). We’ll be talking about how and if artists and music industry bodies are protecting intellectual copyright in the digital age. I’ve been told that this event is a bit more “old school” than the Berlin Music Week, so I hope I can add a different perspective that may be of value to the debate. I’m really not too sure what to expect!
On Friday I’m on the radio! I’m helping out as a moderator and translator for “Urbanissimo!” on Tide.FM. Never done that, so super excited. Following that, I’ll also play two live songs for you from 4pm as part of “Reeperbahn live show”.
Next stop after that is Paddyworld (on Spielbudenplatz, 20359 Hamburg) for a 25 min showcase gig at 5:30pm, after which I will be zooming to my main event, a live gig at my favourite venue in Germany, the Hasenschaukel at 7pm! 🙂 I really can’t wait and hope to see you there!
