It was my intention to keep you more updated, but I totally didn’t account for the lack of sleep that goes with touring. I’ve actually been really lucky and have had a bed to sleep in most of the nights. Still, I never got to spend more than a few hours in it! Right now I’m on the train from Chester to Leeds via Manchester. Last night I played in Wales in a small town close to Wrexham (lovingly Christened Mold). I was in good company though, so the small plaque on the wall of the venue informed me, for the Beatles had enjoyed some drinks here and stayed upstairs after their show at Mold Town Hall in 1962. I shared the bill with a great band from Glasgow, they’re called Ariels Up – I strongly recommend you go see them if you get the chance (their last gig in London was at the Royal Albert Hall supporting Paolo Nutini). Andy Hicky, folk musician extraordinaire, was a fantastic host and was so kind as to put us all up in his lovely house up in the mountains. I couldn’t help myself – the sheep, the surroundings, the fireside, it was just SO “We’ve come on holiday by mistake”, Withnail and I! I’m glad Wales lived up to my expectations…
Can’t wait for the next four shows – Leeds, Liverpool (one of my homes away from home), Manchester and the ‘Love Music Hate Racism’ Festival in Chatham! Maybe I’ll even be able to catch a few hours of sleep in between…
Thanks for the share!
