My new album, Here Lies Human, is available to pre-order now! Here Lies Human explores how technological advancement—particularly when controlled by powerful tech autocrats—is transforming our society, our relationships, and our sense of self. I’m fascinated by how society is being contorted and distorted by a self-serving, bunker building minority. The album’s title track is what kick started the concept. Here Lies Human is an imagined epitaph to humankind. I took myself on a little solo outing to the National History Museum. Reading the various little plaques on plexiglas, behind which skeletons or models of our ancestors were displayed, I started to imagine what a future civilisation (be that new, surviving iteration of homo sapiens, or some kind of alien species or even an AI-human hybrid) would say about us. How will we be remembered? And will we ultimately have been responsible for our extinction?
I recored this album in part in London with the brilliant Steph Marziano. For two tracks, I get to work with Tony Visconti in NYC, alongside some incredible musicians such as David Bowie’s Blackstar bandleader Donny McCaslin and guitarist Gerry Leonard (David Bowie, Suzanne Vega).
